Think you’ve got what it takes to stand above the rest? The HEBS 2026 Barber Competition returns with four electrifying categories designed to test precision, speed, creativity, and classic technique. Each competition will take place live on the show floor, giving barbers a chance to showcase their artistry in front of industry leaders, fellow professionals, and a hyped-up crowd.

Speed meets precision. Competitors must execute a professional-quality fade with a clean lineup
in under 15 minutes. Judges will look for technical skill, speed, and consistency under pressure.

Rules
- Models must have at least a #2 guard on the sides and #3 on top at the start.
- Lineups must be natural—no pencil marks, dyes, or guides prior to the competition.
- The C-cup area must be fully visible and cut during the comp.
- Hair color and enhancements are permitted.
- No pre-cuts allowed.

Classic never goes out of style. This tag team event celebrates traditional barbering. Each duo will recreate iconic men’s cuts with a retro twist—think pompadours, slick backs, and clean shaves with an updated edge.

A hybrid of artistry and precision. This category blends intricate braiding styles with clean, high-quality fades. Contestants must showcase seamless integration of both techniques in a head-turning final look. Participants may compete solo or as a tag team, with one person responsible for the braiding and the other handling the fading.

The HEBS Texture Transformation Championship challenges competitors to transform natural hair into a refined, structured style while respecting the hair’s
natural pattern. This category celebrates control, enhancement, and mastery of texture, where competitors must shape, define, and elevate natural hair into a polished, intentional look.

The HEBS Scissor Precision Championship is a technical showcase of control, discipline, and elevated craftsmanship. Competitors must execute a complete
haircut primarily using scissors, demonstrating advanced wet cutting, intentional sectioning, and refined shape development. This category emphasizes the ability to build structure without reliance on machines, highlighting true mastery of shear work, weight distribution, and finishing detail.

The Rookie Barber Battle is designed to spotlight the next generation of talent. This category challenges new barbers to demonstrate foundational skills, clean execution, and professionalism under time pressure. Competitors must deliver a complete, well-balanced fade with proper styling, proving they understand the fundamentals of barbering

- Competitors must be currently enrolled in barber school or within 1 year of licensing
- Simple design allowed (1–2 lines max). No logos, letters, or complex/aggressive designs
- Hair must be at least 2 inches on the top and 1 inch on the sides
- Must cut and style the top
Frequently Asked Questions
The entry fee includes all-day access for the competitor and one model to the Hair Education Beauty Summit on the day of the competition. Each entry fee covers one model.
Absolutely! Competitors may compete in multiple competitions.
Please note all models need to sign a model release form, which can be filled out at the event.
We have a strict no-refund policy, without exception. If you are unable to attend the event, you may take responsibility for selling your registration to another person.
We have cash prizes and trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Our barbers can win up to $20,000 in cash prizes.
