Barber Competition Category 3: Vintage Vibe Tag Team (teams of two)

** One model per team is permitted with competition entry ticket**

Overview:
Classic never goes out of style. This tag team event celebrates traditional barbering. Each duo will recreate iconic men’s cuts with a retro twist—think pompadours, slick backs, and clean shaves with an updated edge.

Eligibility:
• Hair must be at least 2″ long on top for proper styling
• Must include cut, design, and finish with Vintage Influence
• All designs must align with Vintage theme
• Model may include a stylish theme appropriate outfit and props for full presentation
• Models must meet eligibility requirements in order to serve as a model
Rules
• 60 minutes to complete your total look, cut, design, and style
• Teams must work on the same model.
• Must include Vintage haircut
• Enhancements/props allowed
• Designs, colors and enhancements must align with Vintage theme

Judging Criteria (45 points):
Teamwork (5 points)
• Coordination: Partners work in sync with smooth transitions and no downtime
• Role Clarity: Each barber’s contribution is clear and intentional
• Consistency: Techniques, style, and finish remain unified throughout
• Professionalism: Respectful communication, awareness, and shared space control
• Deductions: Poor transitions, confusion, mismatched work, or lack of collaboration.
Cut Precision (5 points)
• Uniformity: Even length across the top with consistent density
• Weight Control: Bulk is balanced with no shelves or heavy spots
• Direction: Hair is cut with consistent, intentional direction
• Finish: Top is refined, controlled, and not rushed
• Deductions: Uneven length, poor weight balance, inconsistent direction, or rushed finish.
Use of color/props (5 points)
• Color or props enhance the design and overall concept
• Application is clean, controlled, and intentional
• Props are securely placed and do not distract from the haircut
• Deductions: Messy application, overuse, or elements that overpower the design
Styling Technique (5 points)
• Styling Execution: Hair is styled cleanly, intentionally, and with control
• Design Support: Styling enhances the freestyle design and overall concept

• Finish: No loose strands, flyaways, or unfinished areas; final look is polished and stage-ready

• Deductions: Sloppy styling, unfinished shaping, or styling that distracts from the design.

Creativity (5 Points)
• Original concept that stands out from standard designs
• Creative choices flow together cohesively
• Innovation without sacrificing technique or cleanliness

• Deductions: Copycat designs or creativity that compromises execution

Vintage Final Look (5 points) 
• Haircut is fully completed, balanced, and polished.
• Style is appropriate for the model’s face shape and head shape.
• Facial hair (if present) is groomed, blended, and complements the haircut.
• Finish is clean from all angles (front, sides, back).
• Vintage theme is represented in the final look

Cleanliness (15 Points)

•Clean Tools 3pts: Tools and workstation are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition throughout the
service.
• Clipperside 3pts: Disinfectant spray is present and used appropriately during service.
• Hand Sanitizer 3pts: Hand sanitizer is present and used when appropriate.
• Sharps Container 3pts: All razors and sharps are properly disposed of in a designated sharps container.
• Nicks & Cuts -3pts: Points will be deducted for any visible cuts or nicks to the model.
• Clean Station 3pts: Work area is properly cleaned after completion — no neck strips, wrappers, or debris left
behind.
