Student Competition: The Queen’s Haircourt
- Theme: Elegance of the Past Meets Innovation of the Present

Step into the grandeur of Bridgerton with a futuristic twist. Students will showcase hair artistry inspired by 18th-century royal elegance—think dramatic bouffants, regal curls, and intricate ornamentation—infused with modern, avant-garde flair. Whether it’s tech-inspired, pop culture-infused, or fantasy-driven, creativity is key.
Eligibility
- Open to active cosmetology students currently enrolled in a licensed program.
- Both stylist and model must be students (documentation required; transcript/proof of enrollment).
Competition Overview
Participants will showcase a hairstyle inspired by Bridgerton hair designs with an avant-garde twist. The twist can be futuristic, pop culture infused, urban, fantasy themed, or tech inspired!
- Hair designs must reflect Bridgerton-era aesthetics with a clear modern or futuristic “twist.”
- Final styling is completed live on stage in 5–10 minutes.
- Judges will evaluate skill, creativity, historical inspiration, and innovation.
Rules & Requirements
Hair Design :
- At least 75% of the final style must be visible hair.
- Style must incorporate volume, structure, curls, and/or braids inspired by the 1700s.
- Ornamentation is allowed but should enhance—not overpower—the hair.
Model & Attire :
- Contestants provide their own model.
- Models’ wardrobe must complement the hairstyle and theme.
- Makeup may be done before stage time.
Outfit Styling :
- Must reflect traditional 18th-century fashion or a fusion of historical and modern styles.
Written Statement :
- Submit a 100–150 word write-up explaining:
- Your Bridgerton-era inspiration
- The modern twist
- Your creative process
Pre-Show & Live Presentation :
- Models may be prepped up to 4 hours before stage time.
- Contestants will complete final touches live (5–10 minutes) without use of hot tools.
- Music is required during the presentation (clean versions only).
Equipment :
- All tools, products, and supplies must be provided by contestants.
- No power tools or hazardous items are permitted.
Team Structure
- Solo or duo entries allowed (one hairstylist, one makeup artist if needed).
Note: The registered contestant will receive the prize. All participants must follow professional dress codes.
